Smoking is prohibited inside the Studio building as well as within 20 ft. from entrances, windows and air ventilation as per CA state law
No chewing gum inside the dance studio rooms
No liquids are allowed inside except for Water which should be kept in a spill-proof bottle
No food is permitted in the dance studio rooms, food may be kept in the waiting room area but please pick up after yourself and your children.
DSD is not reliable for any personal items lost or stolen in the building
No person is permitted to be in the office area without a staff member
Parents and guests waiting in the lobby need to keep in mind that while classes are in session noise level should be kept at a minimum and children should not be allowed to run around the building
Dancers-please keep all possessions brought to the studio in small closable bag that can be neatly stored under benches or to the side of the room. *All items left at the studio unclaimed will be discarded or given away at the end of every month
Please label all personal items with your name, including water bottles
Parking:
Parking is available in the dirt areas behind the studio from the alley entrance and on the side of the building
Window front parking on the Blvd is reserved for dance instructors only.
DSD is not responsible for any vehicle damage or theft that may occur near the premises.
Please make sure children are with you at all times dancers should not be in the parking areas without an adult
Arrival/Pickup:
Students should arrive no more than 15 minutes early to class (DSD is not responsible for watching students or guests not in dance class). Students not enrolled in dance class cannot be left unaccompanied in the studio and should be with a parent or guardian
Students under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult into the building and must be picked up by an adult (Students are not allowed to leave the premises without an adult. There is no supervision once a child exits the building)
Students in Primary classes must be accompanied by an adult into and out of the building. Parents/Guardians may leave the studio while their primary student is in class and return when class ends.
Arriving late to class is disruptive to the other students and to the learning environment, if a student arrives 15 minutes or more late to class it is up to the instructor whether or not the student is able to participate in class or just observe
Students should arrive ready for class or make sure they have enough time before class begins to get ready- This includes using the bathroom prior to class starting and being dressed in dress code.
All students must be picked up no later then 15 minutes after their class has ended, if an unseen circumstance should come up making their pick up later than 15 minutes the studio needs to be informed as soon as possible.
If your student is enrolled in one of the last classes of the evening and is not picked up on time causing an instructor to wait more than 15 minutes past closing there will be a $10 fee imposed on your child’s bill. Please keep in mind instructors have families to get home to and other responsibilities to uphold after class.
Absences/Make Up Classes:
If you know your student will be absent from a class please inform their instructor
Students that are frequently absent miss out on important learning material and may fall behind in class instruction which could cause them to move down a class level or may prohibit them from performance opportunities
Students 10 years and older are responsible for learning any missed choreography due to absence
If a student is absent from school due to illness please do not bring them to dance class, keep them home until they are well enough to return.
Missed classes are not pro-rated or redeemable for a refund
Make up classes may be done in a lower class level (For example a level 2 student may take the level 1 ballet to make up for his/her ballet class missed) and must be made up within the same month as class was missed.
If a student misses 4 consecutive dance classes without notification they will be dropped from class and you will still be responsible for all fees incurred
Class Etiquette and Conduct:
No cell phones are allowed in class
All students must be respectful to their instructor and to their classmates, any student who is disrespectful, makes fun of other students, disruptive, overly negative, or inappropriate in class will be dismissed from class at any time at the instructor’s discretion.
Dance is an art form and sometimes explores outside of a student’s comfort zone or experience level each student should strive to maintain a positive attitude and work to the best of their ability at all times.
Students and parents should always conduct themselves in a manner that is respectful to others; those who do not will be asked to leave or refused service.
No profanity or inappropriate language inside the studio
No running or horseplay inside the studio building
No touching the mirrors inside the dance rooms
Students should come to class free from distraction and prepared to work hard
Students must come dressed appropriately to each class (Please see Dress Code)
No shoes worn outside may be worn inside the dance rooms
Level Placement:
Level placement is based upon a student’s ability, knowledge, and experience
Level placement is ultimately up to the instructor
A student may be switched between levels at any time the instructor feels necessary
Creative Rights:
All movement, choreography and material used in class or during performances is either original work from the instructor and property thereof Danica’s School of Dance or may be used material from an outside choreographer or dance instructor and thus should never be used, performed elsewhere, distributed, or posted without written permission from a DSD instructor.
Tuition and Fees:
Tuition is due the 5th of every month
If tuition is past due there will be a $10 late fee, this fee will accumulate weekly until balance is paid
Tuition may be paid by Cash, Credit or Debit Card (Cards accepted by Square processing)
No refunds will be given only credit in certain circumstances
Unpaid tuition balances will result in the holding of costumes, no admittance to class, or no performance opportunities
Withdrawing From a Class:
If a student or parent chooses to withdraw from a class they must do so at the end of the month before tuition is due on the 5th of the next month.
There are no refunds on tuition if a student withdraws from a class
Class Schedule and Instructors:
Instructors may change at any time, as much notice as possible will be given.
Class schedules may need to be changed due to instructor illness or unforeseen circumstances as much notice as possible will be given to parents/students.
Permanent class schedule changes will be given at least 1 week in advance
